Milana Vuković Runjić

Milana Vuković Runjić (Zagreb, 1970) is an author, critic and editor. She graduated in Comparative Literature and Philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. An experienced editor, she co-founded the publishing house Vuković&Runjić, where she works as an editor. In 2005, she received a prestigious Kiklop Award for her editorial achievements. She was a contributor for many newspapers and magazines, including the renowned Italian journal Internazionale and the American Believer.

Although her later oeuvre includes mostly prosaic form, she appeared on the Croatian literary scene in 1989 with a poetry collection The Garden, followed by Sections on Eve (1994) and Azure Gold (1994). Other than strictly fictional work, such as The Street of Infidel Wives (2006), Pharaoh from Ilica is Dead! (2015), Pharaoh and Nutcracker (2017) or the children’s book Vladimir and Matilda (2016) she published a collection of feuilletones (Wives and Lovers) and Cursed Croatian Women, a collection of biographies of ten notable Croatian artists.
