Katja Grcić
Katja Grcić (Split, 1982) writes poetry, fiction, essays, criticism, scholarly texts, and plays, and also translates from German and English. She graduated in German and English Language and Literature from the University of Zadar, and in Theatre Dramaturgy from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, with further study at the universities of Vienna and Graz.
Her published books of poetry and poetic prose include Nosive konstrukcije (Load-Bearing Structures, 2015), Ljeto / Summer (Summer, 2017), Pisma Ziti (Letters to Zita, 2020), and ISTINA nedjeljom i drugim danima (TRUTH on Sundays and Other Days, 2023), which was shortlisted for the Ivan Goran Kovačić Award and the Drago Gervais Award.
A two-time recipient of the Marin Držić Award, Grcić was honoured for the plays Prema podacima: DRUGA (According to the Data: THE SECOND) and Strah tijela od poda (The Body’s Fear of the Floor). The latter also received the 2024 Croatian Theatre Award for Best Radio Drama in a production directed by Hana Veček.
She heads KADAR, an arts organization dedicated to theatre and film production, and lives and works in Zagreb.
