The ongoing war in Ukraine has sparked an unexpected surge of interest in Balkan literature, which has played a key role in the rising success of Sandorf Passage, a U.S.-based publishing house founded by Croatian publisher and author Ivan Sršen. Specializing in translating and publishing significant literary works from the Balkans, Sandorf Passage brings to light stories that often reflect the region's complex history and its legacy of conflict, offering readers a deeper understanding of southeastern Europe.

NORLA’s Translator’s Award 2024 goes to Mišo Grundler

In Oslo, while celebrating International Translation Day, or Hieronymus Day as it’s known in Norway, NORLA presented its annual translation award for the nineteenth time. NORLA’s Translator’s Award for 2024 goes to Mišo Grundler for his outstanding work in translating Norwegian non-fiction into Croatian. Congratulations!

Croatian Literature at London Book Fair 12th – 14th March 2024

Sandorf and Mljet National Park will have a joint appearance at the two largest European book fairs: London Book Fair and Frankfurt, held in March (London) and October (Frankfurt) each year, which will include the presentation of the project “Odisejevo utočište – Ulysses' Shelter” and presentation of the visitor offer and natural and cultural heritage of the Mljet National Park. The goal is to attract new donors and potential partners for the “Odisejevo utočište – Ulysses' Shelter” project, and at the same time to attract new visitors and potential tourists to Mljet National Park.

The Glembays cycle by Miroslav Krleža published in France

All three plays of the acclaimed drama cycle The Glembays – Messrs. Glembay (1928), In Agony (1928/1957), Leda (1932) – by one of the greatest Croatian authors Miroslav Krleža have been published in France by Prozor-éditions as La Trilogie ses Glembay. This marks the very first French translation of the entire cycle, available now to francophone audiences, almost an entire century since it was originally published.
