Ivo Balenović

Ivo Balenović (Zagreb, 1969) graduated in medicine. He published his novels Metastases and Cannibal Vegetarian under the pseudonym Alen Bović. These novels were made into successful feature films; while Metastases won the Grand Golden Arena for the best film at the Pula Film Festival in 2009, Cannibal Vegetarian was selected as the Croatian entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards. The novel Metastases also received a homonymous theatrical adaptation that won the Marul Award for the best play in 2008.

Balenović wrote screenplays for the feature films ZG80 (2016) and Agape (2017) and for the animated movie Easygoing Teddy. Ivo Balenović lives in Zagreb and works as a medical doctor, writer and screenwriter.

Zoran Lazić

Zoran Lazić (Slavonski Brod, 1976) is an author, playwright, and screenwriter. Journalist graduate, known for his satirical, witty style and subverting the expectations, he has worked on some of the most commercially successful TV, film, and theatre production. Among his prose work are two short story collections Miss Krampus (Miss Krampus, 2003), and Calendar (Kalendar, 2004), and three novels, Summer in the City (Ljeto u gradu, 2004), One Day, Nothing (Jednog dana ništa, 2018), and Gori domovina (The Homeland on Fire, 2005). The latter was co-written by Tonči Kožul with whom he collaborated on scripts for the TV series Bitange i princeze (The Lowlifes and the Princesses) and Zakon! (Awesome!).

He also wrote screenplays for films (Narodni heroj Ljiljan Vidić / Shooting Stars) and theatre - co-authored Satirical Theatre Kerempuh's Spektakluk, which turned out to be one of the most performed plays in Croatia. Jednog dana ništa (One Day, Nothing, 2018) is his latest novel.
