Inalco 2020 Prize to Chloé Billon for the French translation of No-Signal Area by Robert Perišić

The French translator Chloé Billon has received the coveted INALCO 2020 prize for translators for her translation of No-Signal Area (Les Turbines du Titanic in French) by the Croatian author Robert Perišić. The novel was published in France by the publishing house Editions Gaȉa, with support of the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media.

After the international success of Perišić' Our Man in Iraq (2007), translated into ten languages world-wide, it's wonderful to see No-Signal Area is following its path, sparking interest of international publishers and literary audience.

The new edition of ''The Bridge'' / ''Most'' literary magazine is available online

Founded in Zagreb in 1966 by the Croatian Writers' Association, ''The Bridge'' / ''Most'' literary magazine is destined to promote Croatian literature at the European and international culture scene. The founder and the first editor was Slavko Mihalić, followed by a number of the esteemed Croatian authors (Ante Stamać, Branimir Bošnjak, Zvane Črnja, Ivan Pandžić, Milivoj Solar, Slobodan Prosperov Novak, Dražen Katunarić , Srećko Lipovčan i  Davor Šalat).

Each feature of the magazine contains informative sections, sample translations in various languages and lists of complete works of the author in question. The new edition is dedicated to the works of Dunja Detoni-Dujmić, with contributions of other writers as well.

Olja Savičević Ivančević won prestigious Premier roman 2020 Award

Farewell, Cowboy by Olja Savičević Ivančević has just been awarded with the Premier roman 2020 Award! Published by JC Lattès and translated by Chloe Billon, Farewell, Cowboy has been chosen among seven translated titles as the best debut novel published in France. In the category of French authors, the laureate is Ketty Rouf and her novel On ne touche pas.

The jury of the prize described Farewell, Cowboy as ‘’spellbinding bildungsroman that offers a striking portrait of a lost generation’’. Published in Croatia in 2010,  was translated into German, Swedish, French, Italian, Spanish, Bulgarian, Dutch, English, Slovenian, Serbian and Turkish, and this coveted literary prize is the last in the line of its international accolades.

'Anthology of the modern Croatian' poetry published in China

The Chinese Writers Association has published the Anthology of the Modern Croatian Poetry curated by the poet, editor and critic Ervin Jahić (Kuća pisaca, October 2020, translated into Chinese by Hong Yuqing and Peng Yuchao). The collection contains almost 200 poems by 60 Croatian poets, and the book itself is a part of the mutual literary translation project between the Croatian and Chinese Writers Association.

The project was inaugurated by the Chinese anthology Neighborhood in the Clouds (HDP, Biblioteka Poezije, Zagreb, 2017, translated into Chinese by Lucija Čurić and Ivana Gubić).

The Anthology of the Modern Croatian Poetry was launched on October 27th in Beijing, and it represents the most ambitious and extensive presentation of the Croatian literature to the Chinese readers.
